The CTTC delivers innovative
and World leading methods of English Language training
to ensure the learners can communicate effectively in
English throughout the rest of their careers in the
Oil & Gas industry.
The specific aims of our programmes
are to give all learners the language skills, behaviours,
and confidence to start their technical training and,
most importantly, to work effectively and with initiative
in today’s Global environment.
All technicians will need to use English
during their training and working lives within BP. We
therefore place the greatest emphasis on developing
speaking and listening skills. Our training is based
around work-specific materials, for example BP Golden
Rules, HSSE materials and CTTC training manuals.
Trainees initially study for 3 to 5
months and are tested every 4 weeks. They have to reach
a level of competency before starting their technical
training and, if they are not able to, they can take
a further 3-month course.
All classrooms are equipped with computers
and data projectors and at lest 50% of each lesson focuses
on trainees delivering presentations to their group.
These can be on any topic – previous work, grammar
problems, football, Azerbaijan history and culture,
being some of the most popular. At the end of the 3
months each group gives a 45-minute to 1 hour presentation
to their fellow trainees and members of CTTC and BP
staff.
We organise Saturday
classes for any trainee who wants to continue developing
their English skills during the period of their technical
training. We also offer GAP training in English for
technicians who have graduated from the centre but need
to keep building on their English abilities. |
